Studies show that we remember and retain information more easily when the information is presented in positive, pleasant images and when those images are vivid and colorful!

In each of the 180 cards in Word of the Day, we have incorporated the definition of the word into the written word. By creating a visual link, even the hardest-to-remember words can be easily learned.

Simply display one word each day, briefly discuss it with your students, and watch how quickly your students will learn and be able to use the new vocabulary words!

Suggested activities:

- Have students list synonyms or antonyms for the word of the day.

- When appropriate, place the word of the day with commonly used words with similar meanings on a gradient line. Research has shown that learning words in combination helps improve retention.

- Have students use the word in a sentence.

- Determine the part of speech represented. Many times the word can be used as various parts of speech. Discuss these and the various definitions.
